PolarSkin outperformed the competition in three key areas:

energy performance, price, and ease of adoption.

In May, Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL) released their “Summary of Field Evaluation of Non-Glass Interior Secondary Window Attachments” report.

WexEnergy’s PolarSkin™ was one of three commercially available interior window retrofits selected from a pool of nearly one dozen!

1. PERFORMANCE:

PolarSkins™ ARE MORE EFFECTIVE AT KEEPING HEAT INSIDE IN WINTER AND OUTSIDE IN SUMMER, SAVING MORE MONEY FOR BUILDINGS

PolarSkin™ saw a 5-10°F increase in window surface temperature, doubling the energy performance of the other two products (2-5°F increase). Continued testing with InfraRed images showed a 10°F increase in PolarSkin’s surface temperature, while our competitors only saw a 7.5°F change.

PolarSkins IS THE ONLY RETROFIT THAT MAINTAINS WINDOW OPERABILITY!

PolarSkin™ is the only interior secondary window retrofit that maintains window operability, unlike the other retrofits. This is key to maintaining building code compliance, emergency egress, and access to fresh air.

2. PRICE:

PolarSkins IS THE LOWEST COST RETROFIT AVAILABLE!

At scale, PolarSkin™ prices out between $10-$15/ft2 as compared to $21+/ft2 for our competitor’s products. Due to the featherweight nature of WexEnergy’s solutions shipping costs are significantly lower compared to competitive products.

3. DEPLOYABILITY:

The reviewers found PolarSkin™ to be the easiest of the three products reviewed in terms of ease of measurement, installation, and ordering.

Attached are two files: the original summary report from PNNL and a WexEnergy annotated version of the same report. Please note: PNNL specifically requested that we not identify the other companies included in this report. Because this study focused on cold climate solutions, WexEnergy’s SolarSkin™ was not included in this study.
